Learning English as a second language

For many students learning a second language has been a big challenge. When a person wants to learn something new he should study hard. He shouldn’t wait for the teacher to open his brain and fill it up with English skills. Many students think that they don’t need to learn English in a school. They believe learning a second language can be improved from watching TV or speaking with friend in English, but that is not enough. We are studying academic English, and English speakers do not speak academic English, because it's quite different from general English that English people have. Therefore, I am going to try to give some recommendations that I wish will be helpful for anyone. The most important thing is to attend class. When you come to school you will learn something new from teachers or even your classmates. Then you should do a plan for your self when you don’t understand a word. I recommend that when you don’t understand a word don’t ask what does it means right away. Try to think about it or guess the meaning of it before using dictionary too. Another thing is try to avoid translation. Always use English to English dictionary, because there are a lot of words that a translator can not give you the best meaning of the word. Also it will let you think in your first language instead of thinking in English. However, give your self strong self esteem with relaxation and be patient because nothing comes easy and fast. Hopefully everybody will be successful in their English academic journey.
